Videos from the 2019 Forum

The first REAL Community Forum took place on February 28, 2019. It was an opportunity for faith leaders and interested community members to come together, learn about the biology of addiction, trauma and resilience, what prevention is and what other faith communities are doing to help, national and local drug trends, and programs and resources in our community, and make some helpful connections. We want to give a huge thank you to Helena Civic Television (HCTV) for capturing part of the day by recording some of our morning sessions. You can check the HCTV website to see when repeat telecasts of the REAL Forum will run or watch the videos below. Hopefully you can join us at the 2nd annual Forum next year, but in the meantime, thank you HCTV for helping everyone be able to experience part of this year’s Forum!

Part 1 includes Colleen Roylance, Youth Connections Vice President as Emcee, Governor Steve Bullock, and Andy Duran, Executive Director of LEAD in Lake Forest, IL. Topics covered include the welcome to the Forum, opening remarks from Governor Bullock, national drug trends, substance abuse prevention, and what faith communities can do. The video that is shown toward the beginning of this recording has been muted. The entire video with sound can be seen from the link below. Andy’s slides can be seen here.

This is Part 2 of the morning sessions. It includes Chris Haughee, Chaplain at Intermountain Residential, and a panel of law enforcement officers. Topics covered include adverse childhood experiences, trauma and resilience, local drug trends, and how families are being affected. Chris’ slides can be seen here.
