Give Local Helena!

In a single day, using an online fundraising platform, donors nationwide will contribute to their favorite nonprofit organizations in a ‘one-stop’, ‘one transaction’ approach.  This unique opportunity is being coordinated by the Helena Area Community Foundation (HACF) through Give Local Helena.  During the 24 hour giving campaign donors will be able access all participating organizations through a single website, givelocalhelena.org.

HACF is calling for all nonprofit organizations in this region to share in the excitement of taking part in Give Local America – a nation-wide day for online philanthropic giving.  The Helena area boasts more than 300 non-profit organizations that can receive donor dollars by simply choosing to participate.  In partnering with local area nonprofit organizations, business and community members to raise funds for local needs HACF connects donors with Helena community nonprofits to reinforce the value of philanthropic giving and community engagement.

This concept of connecting donors with the community nonprofits of their choice through social media and a website designed specifically to accept and direct donations immediately, will give members of our community the chance to find and support organizations whose missions align with their passion.

Local business sponsors have contributed funds to establish a “stretch pool” of monies that will be used as cash awards.  These prizes will be granted throughout the day to award nonprofit organizations as pre-selected benchmarks are reached.  As an example, a grand prize will be awarded to the non-profit with the most donors participating on that day. The stretch pool will also help stretch every donor dollar as a pool of money will be reserved so that every participating non-profit will receive a proportionate share of extra cash.

Other prizes and drawings will be given from 8:00 AM to Noon at our Morning Donor Dash locations:  Fire Tower Coffee and Scenic Brew and from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM at our Giving Lounges: Sommeliers and Lewis and Clark Brewery.

In addition to the above special sponsors, several other businesses have also signed on to support this great local community event.  They include Opportunity Bank, First Interstate Bank, Treacy Foundation, Northwest Energy, U.S. Bank, Signs Now, Benny’s Bistro, Allegra Print and the Independent Record.
