Adolescents seek safe, stable, and nurturing relationships with supportive adults, but these kinds of connections can be difficult for at-risk youth to find and sustain.

Helena School Districthttp://helenaschools.org  Helena school district has many options to fulfill need for connectedness.  School counselors, administrators and teachers are a huge asset for adolescents finding stable and nurturing relationships.

Big Brothers Big Sisters http://www.bbbs-helena.org  changing lives, one child at a Time.  This organization is about building a solid foundation of relationships for adolescents through supportive adults.

Career Training Institutehttp://ctibrc.org   CTI provides activities to meet the demand of the    modern workplace.  CTI is a safe place for adolescents to thrive in a safe workplace setting while learning new skills for future success.   http://ctibrc.org/Services/WIOAYouth.aspx

Young Lifehttps://helena.younglife.org  Young life is concerned adults that care about kids on their turf and their culture.  Young Life builds strong connections with adolescents in a friendship faith based way to ensure a supportive relationship between two individuals.

YMCAhttp://helenaymca.org  The Helena YMCA offers social recreational programs specifically to middle and high school students, a middle school after school program, as well as intramural and competitive sports for older teens.

Florence Crittenton Homehttp://www.florencecrittenton.org  By helping young mothers we are helping their child and enabling a young family to live a positive, healthy, and successful life.  Florence Crittenton focuses on healthy environments and healthy support for young mothers in a group home environment.

Life Houseshttp://life-houses.org  Life Houses provides homes for young adults living hopeless lives. Life Houses arrange safe living conditions to ensure healthy adolescent living development.

Youth Homes – Margaret Stuart, Jan Shaw and Dan Fox http://youthhomesmt.org Youth Homes provide care for adolescents who are facing abuse, neglect, emotional trauma, and substance abuse problems.  They work in a therapeutic setting to ensure healthy environments and promote mental health care.

Helena Food Sharehttp://www.helenafoodshare.org/janda/index.php Food Share is an emergency food pantry for families in need.  Helena Food Share has two “permanent” pantry locations as well as a “mobile pantry” that travels to select locations in the community.

Rocky Mountain Development Councilhttp://rmdc.net Rocky Mountain Development Council is a human resource development council involved in multiple and varied services. The organization is committed to improving the quality of life for all community members, especially for those who face poverty or for whom mental illness, isolation, or age puts them at unusual risk. RMDC’s programs range from Low Income Energy Assistance and Affordable Housing to Meals on Wheels and so much more.  The organization also offers volunteer opportunities, some specifically aimed at youth.

YWCAhttp://ywcahelena.org The YWCA houses a transitional housing program specifically for women and their children.  The organization also runs the Placer Pantry, which provides hygiene and personal products to those in need.

Good Samaritanhttp://goodsamhelena.org  Good Samaritan provides financial assistance to meet a number of basic needs including automotive repair or fuel for medical appointments, prescription, dental or eye glass assistance, personal hygiene and diapers.  Good Samaritan also serves as a vocational training site for many employees and volunteers.

Salvation Armyhttp://helena.salvationarmynw.org/ The Salvation Army provides financial assistance for basic needs such as housing and utilities and also has a food bank, can assist with back to school supplies as well as supplies for Thanksgiving and Christmas meals.  The Salvation Army also offers faith-based youth groups for teens.

Helena Area Transit Servicehttp://www.helenamt.gov/public-works/hats.html HATS is a public transportation bus system.  A check-point bus offers 21 stops across the Helena area and another bus connects Helena to the East Valley area.  Bus fees start at $0.85.

Helena Youth Crisishttp://www.helenayouthcrisis.org Crisis facilitation services. This website provides a link to dozens of providers of various youth related services. It is a collaborative community effort to provide urgent response to youth and experiencing mental health crisis and their families.

Planned Parenthoodhttps://www.plannedparenthood.org  Provides up to date, clear, medically accurate information that helps you better understand your sexual health.  They provide professional health care for adolescents in the community.

Pureviewhttp://pureviewhealthcenter.org  Pureview provides members of the community with high quality, comprehensive, compassionate, cost-effective primary healthcare, integrated behavioral health, dental services and low cost medicines.

St. Peter’s Hospitalhttps://www.stpetes.org/ Offers a range of inpatient medical services, including emergency room crisis response services.

Shodairhttps://shodair.org/ Shodair Children’s Hospital offers an acute psychiatric inpatient treatment program, child and adolescent residential treatment programs and medical genetic services.

Adult Learning Centerhttp://helenaschools.org/depzartments/adult-education/ The Adult Learning Center is operated by the Helena School District.  The ALC offers adult basic education as well as HiSET testing.

Lewis and Clark County Libraryhttps://www.lclibrary.org/ The public library has several locations within the county.  Both the Helena and East Helena branches offer special events for youth and the Helena branch also maintains a teen-orientated book group with monthly meetings.

Holter Museum of Arthttps://www.holtermuseum.org The Holter offers volunteer opportunities specifically for teens interested in the creative and visual arts.  Teen-specific art classes are also offered, sometimes at a reduced fee or free of charge.

Grandstreet Theaterhttp://grandstreettheatre.com The Grandstreet is a community theater, producing 10-12 plays or musicals annually.  The theater offers summer theater school for a fee with scholarships available, as well as ongoing opportunities to act or to volunteer behind the scenes.

Cohesion Dance Project –  http://cohesiondance.org/about-us/  Cohesion Dance Project is a non-profit dance production company whose mission is to enrich, inspire, and unite the community through dance.  Cohesion promotes a healthy community that fully embraces dancers of varying ages, abilities, and experience levels and supports a diversity of dance forms as essential to the human spirit.  Dance classes are offered for a fee with scholarships available.  Opportunities to choreograph or perform are also available.

 

COORDINATED, ADOLESCENT- AND FAMILY- CENTERED SERVICES

The system of services and supports to adolescents are often provided by several different agencies and programs.  Integrated and coordinated services can help ensure better health outcomes and support healthy development for adolescents.

Intermountainhttp://www.intermountain.org  Integrated Community Mental Health services, Intermountain helps individuals in the community through supportive mental health services and through relationship building strategies. Intermountain provides the most diverse mental health and substance abuse treatment options in the Helena community.
